Grand Master Jhoon Rhee

The system of martial arts we use today was founded by Grand Master Jhoon Rhee.  He is a world-renowned 10th degree black belt and is considered to be the Father of U.S. Tae Kwon Do (pronounced Tai-Kwon-Do) for having brought it to the United States in 1956.  He has acted as a special advisor to the president’s counsel on physical fitness and sports under Ronald Regan and a presidential appointee to the national counsel on vocational education under George Bush.

Grand Master Rhee is the inventor of protective safety equipment used in martial arts academies all over the world and martial ballet, which is the choreographing of martial arts forms to classical music.  He is the first martial arts instructor to place a high importance on education by requiring his students to attain a B+ average in school.  He also is the creator of National Teacher Appreciation Day.

Grand Master Rhee has been an instructor for celebrities such as Muhammad Ali, Tony Robbins and Bruce Lee, and has taught over 300 US Congressmen (and is still teaching them today).  He is the only American of Korean descent to be recognized as one of the top 200 immigrants of all time by the National Immigrant Forum and the I.N.S. and is one of the strongest promoters of the US freedom system in Korea.
